The four candidates running for the Dallas City Council District 10 position are scheduled to answer a series of questions during an upcoming candidate forum.

The Exchange Club of Lake Highlands will host the forum at the Kaycee Club Inc. on April 14 at 7 a.m.

The District 10 position, which represents much of Lake Highlands, is open due to incumbent Council Member Adam McGough reaching his term limit. Candidates for the position include Sirrano Baldeo, Brian Hasenbauer, Kathy Stewart and Chris Carter.

All four candidates are expected to participate in the forum, Marketing Director Bill Boyd said. Board member Ken Riney will moderate the forum with questions solicited from the club’s board and members.

The club’s forums usually allow each candidate two minutes to answer a question from the moderator before their opponents are given one minute each to respond.

Boyd said the upcoming forum is the largest candidate forum the Exchange Club has hosted, which may affect how much time candidates are given for their responses. The candidates are not given specific rules to follow in regard to not targeting their opponents, but Boyd said they are expected to act civilly.

“Tone matters a lot,” Boyd said. “If someone is hyperaggressive and targeting other candidates, that very typically does not work out in their favor.”

Two of the candidates, Hasenbauer and Stewart, are members of the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands, but the organization does not endorse candidates, Boyd said.

The event is open to members of the Exchange Club of Lake Highlands and invited guests only. Those interested in attending can reach out to the club by emailing [email protected] or calling 469-248-7721.

Community Impact conducted its own Q&A with the District 10 candidates, which can be viewed here. Early voting will begin April 24 and run through May 2. Election day is May 6.
