A number of restaurants have recently left the Lake Highlands/Lakewood area, with new restaurants slated to open in the neighborhood soon.

This list is noncomprehensive.

1. Banh Shop is coming soon to The Shops at Park Lane in Vickery Meadow.

The new storefront is one of three new locations coming to North Texas. Spokesperson Mark Brezinski said in an email that the Banh Shop is “loosely scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.”

The restaurant will serve Asian street food, such as sandwiches, bowls and sushi. In addition, Banh Shop will also serve breakfast.


2. BuzzBrews Kitchen, a popular Dallas restaurant known for its drag brunches and large breakfast menu, permanently closed in Lakewood, a company staffer said. They did not share a reason for the closure.

The locally owned diner has two remaining locations in Deep Ellum and central Dallas. In addition to drag shows, BuzzBrews hosts open mic nights, trivia nights and other entertainment events.

3. Panda Express is scheduled to open near the intersection of I-635 and Greenville Avenue in Lake Highlands.

A company spokesperson declined to provide an exact address for the location but confirmed the store was in the works. Panda Express specializes in American-style Chinese foods, offering rice and noodle dishes, orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, and a variety of other dishes.


4. O'Riley's Billiards, Food & Bar has permanently closed its doors in Lake Highlands after its owners were unable to renew their lease for the business.

The bar, which opened in 2003, was known for hosting live music events with local artists.

5. Foxtrot, a Chicago-based corner store and coffee shop company, opened its fourth Dallas store in Lower Greenville.

The upscale convenience store offers seasonal coffee drinks, breakfast tacos, sandwiches, pizzas, smoothies, salads and other grab-and-go items. It also sells an assortment of beer, wine and cocktails.
