Faith-based nonprofit Juliette Fowler Communities held a ribbon-cutting ceremony May 10 to mark the opening of its latest independent-living community, known as The Peak.
“The Peak provides an important opportunity for the wonderful people in East Dallas to continue to stay in the neighborhood that they have made so wonderful, despite the rising costs of housing,” said Ashley Thames Brown, vice president of development with Juliette Fowler Communities, via email. “The Peak gives people over 62 who qualify the opportunity to live ... in the heart of Lakewood.”
The $24 million apartment development, located at 230 S. Fulton St., features 144 units ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments focused on adults age 62 and over making between 30%-60% of the area’s median income. From 2017-21, the median income in Dallas was $58,231, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.
Amenities at The Peak include a cafe, a library, a business center, a pool, a chapel and a salon in addition to access to public transportation and the Santa Fe Trail.
Located on the east side of Juliette Fowler Communities’ 21-acre campus, The Peak adds to other housing development options the nonprofit provides, including assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing and rehabilitation.
