The city of Dallas is scheduled to host a town hall series throughout August to solicit community input on its fiscal year 2023-24 budget.

Community members can weigh in on how the city’s tax dollars are spent virtually or in person during the series. Each Dallas City Council member will host a town hall for their district, according to the city of Dallas website.

Here is the schedule for town halls for Lake Highlands and Lakewood.
  • Aug. 14 at 6 p.m.: City Council Member Kathy Stewart will host a virtual town hall meeting for District 10, which includes most of Lake Highlands.
  • Aug. 16 at 6 p.m.: City Council Member Paula Blackmon will host a virtual town hall meeting for District 9, which includes Lakewood and part of Lake Highlands.
  • Aug. 17 at 6:30 p.m.: Blackmon and Stewart will co-host a meeting for districts 9, 10, 11 and 13 at the Lake Highlands North Recreation Center at 9940 White Rock Trail, Dallas.
  • Aug. 21 at 6 p.m.: Stewart will co-host a meeting with Council Member Jaynie Schultz for districts 10 and 11 at the Willie B. Johnson Recreation Center at 12225 Willowdell Drive, Dallas.
City Council is expected to approve the FY 2023-24 budget, which is planned to be $4.35 billion, in late September. The city’s FY 2022-23 budget, set at $4.51 billion, included a property tax rate cut by $0.0275, setting the rate at $0.7458 per $100 valuation, according to the budget.
