Japanese dollar store Daiso is scheduled to open a new store in late October in the Mockingbird Commons shopping center in Lakewood.
Daiso sells a variety of products, including Asian snacks, home decor, kitchenware, beauty items, stationery, gift wrap, greeting cards, electronics accessories and pet supplies. Over 40% of its products are imported from China, South Korea, Japan and other Asian countries, according to the company's website.
In addition to the new Lakewood store, Daiso is also planning to open a store at The Shops at Park Lane in Vickery Meadow. An opening date has not been announced.

Dollar Tree is expected to open in the Lake Highlands area, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
Dollar Tree is known for selling a variety of discount goods, including glassware, cleaning supplies, snacks, health and beauty items, toys, party supplies, books, and seasonal decor. The company has 8,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada, according to its website.
Construction on the Lake Highlands store location began in late September and is expected to finish in late November, according to the TDLR filing. A specific opening date was not mentioned in the filing. Dollar Tree staff did not respond to requests for comment.

Celebree School is coming soon to the Lake Highlands area in Dallas.
The facility will offer early childhood education, including infant and toddler care, preschool, summer camp programs, and more. According to the company’s website, Celebree School was founded in 1994, and every location is locally owned and operated.

HomeStory Door recently opened in Dallas.
HomeStory Door rented a space in Forest Green Business Park, according to an email from a Bradford Commercial Real Estate representative.
The business offers custom door replacement and fitting services, according to the company’s website. In addition, HomeStory Doors offers door locks and hardware.
“Dallas is a great location to open up a HomeStory location,” owner Mikhail Hakim said in a news release. “We look forward to servicing the community with the latest styles in interior door replacement services.”

Truck Yard, a “dive-ish” bar garden known for its big backyard and food trucks, is celebrating 10 years in Dallas’ Lower Greenville area.
Founded in 2013, the bar is known for its variety of drinks, trailer park decor and Philly cheesesteaks. Earlier this year, the business unveiled about $2 million in renovations focused on making the space bigger, more weather friendly and more efficient for customers.
