1. Dallas Institute of art
The Art Institute of Dallas, part of an eight-school system of for-profit art colleges, is permanently closing as the school system shuts down.
Students are encouraged to complete their education at other schools, and campuses are working with partners to facilitate student transfers, according to a statement on the college’s website. The institutes will mail all students, including those on approved leaves of absences, five copies of their transcripts.
A reason for the shutdown was not provided.

The popular Dallas bar Strangeways is closing.
The owners announced the closing in a Sept. 16 social media post. An exact date was not specified in the post, which noted the bar would close sometime in October. Strangeways, known for its selection of alcohol and rotating craft beers, opened in 2011.

Pizza chain Fireside Pies has permanently closed its Lake Highlands location in Dallas.
The restaurant served several pizza choices and pasta dishes as well as seasonal pie, brownies and cheesecake for dessert. It offered a breakfast and brunch menu on the weekends. Signage at the location indicates the property is available for lease. According to the company’s website, the original Henderson Avenue location as well as the Grapevine and Fort Worth locations will remain open.
