Several new businesses are scheduled to move into the Lake Highlands and Lakewood area in the coming months, including an American Girl store and an H-E-B store. This is a noncomprehensive list.

1. Joe V’s Smart Shop

H-E-B is planning to open two new locations of its low-price store—Joe V’s Smart Shop—in Dallas, including one in the east Dallas area.

The new locations will be the first Joe V’s stores outside of the Houston area, where it was founded in 2010 and has nine locations. The east Dallas store is expected to open in spring 2025 at 5204 S. Buckner Blvd., according to a company news release.

2. American Girl

American Girl is set to relocate its doll store at the Galleria Dallas shopping mall to a new space in The Shops at Park Lane in the Lake Highlands area.

The new store, located at 8052 Park Lane, is expected to open in early 2024, American Girl spokesperson Susan Jevens said. The two-story, 15,400-square-foot space will feature a full-service restaurant and a salon for both dolls and children to enjoy hairstyling, manicures and ear piercings. 877-247-5223. www.americangirl.com

3. Nexus Children’s Hospital


Nexus Children’s Hospital will open a new pediatric care center in Lake Highlands in mid- to late-July.

The new 80,000-square-foot center will open at 9525 Greenville Ave., Dallas. Initially expected to open around the beginning of the year, Nexus Children’s Hospital treats complex medical conditions for pediatric patients, such as traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, respiratory conditions, and complex medical and psychiatric diagnoses, according to the company’s website.
