A contract was approved for work on Keller Hicks Road during the Fort Worth City Council meeting May 13.

What's happening?

McClendon Construction Company, Inc., had the lowest bid out of the seven applicants and was awarded the contract for $10.6 million.

Construction on Phase 2 of Keller Hicks Road from Park Vista Boulevard to Lauren Way will start in the summer, according to city documents.

A closer look


Phase 1 will replace an existing two-lane asphalt road to a three-lane commercial connector.

A two-way left turn lane will be added as well as drainage; relocation and replacement of a water line; street lights at Woodland Springs Drive and 10-foot sidewalks that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.

How it happened

As part of the contract, council approved transferring nearly $1.1 million from the Paygo funds to the water and sewer funds to pay for the drainage portion of the project.


In addition, council approved moving funds from the 2022 bond program, totaling $9.2 million, from other planned projects to help pay for five current projects.

Keller Hicks Road received $1.5 million additional funding. To help fund the ongoing projects, $12.1 million was borrowed from the Park Vista Boulevard project, Heritage Trace Parkway Phase 1 project and W.J. Boaz Road West project, which are scheduled for 2026 and 2027, according to city documents.

Also on the agenda

A temporary closure on Wall Price Keller Road between Ray White Road and Wagon Court was approved. The closure will run from May 25 to Aug. 12, due to construction activities, according to city documents.


McCarthy Building Companies requested the temporary closure, but access will be available to local residents.

It is part of a $22 million construction project on Ray White Road that will add sidewalks on both sides of the road, street lights, roundabout modifications at Ray White Road and Park Vista Boulevard and storm drain improvements, according to city documents.
