The details
The project was selected and approved during its Feb. 11 meeting as a part of the Denton County bond so 50% of the project is reimbursable by the county.
The improvements would be between Lois Street and Byron Nelson Boulevard and include a concrete street; curb and gutter drainage improvements; new sidewalks and street lighting, according to city documents.
The construction will be done by Quality Excavation and city staff will set up a start date sometime in March or early April, Public Works Director Shawn Wilkinson said.
He added once construction begins, the project should take a year to complete.
Though no roads are planned to be closed down during construction, there could be traffic impacts during demolition. All businesses along the road have been notified about the construction and were told that the entryways to their businesses will remain open, Wilkinson said.
