The Keller City Council approved the reconstruction of Johnson Road during its Sept. 20 meeting.

McClendon Construction, from Burleson, had the winning bid of over $7.2 million, the third lowest bid presented to the council out of six bids. The project will include roadway, drainage and water system improvements as well as a roundabout at the intersection of Keller-Smithfield Road and Johnson.

A sidewalk will also be installed on the south side of the roadway. The project will run form Hallelujah Trail to Rhonda Road. Utilities have already been relocated for the project. The initial plan for the Johnson project was presented in fall 2019.

The timeline for the road reconstruction project is expected to be more than a year for construction. Work is slated to commence in January 2023 with an expected completion date of June 2024.
