What residents should know
Keller Mayor Armin Mizani said the green lights will symbolize that “in times of loss and grief, Texans always come together to support one another.”
The city of Keller, along with the cities of Southlake, Colleyville, North Richland Hills, Richland Hills and Watuga, are encouraging residents to donate to relief efforts for Kerr County. Online payments can be made by searching for the “Kerr County Relief Fund” on the Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country website.
The context
Approximately 100 people have died due to severe flooding in parts of Central Texas, according to previous Community Impact reporting. That includes 84 people killed by flooding in Kerr County, 6 in Travis County, and 2 in Williamson County.
Organizations across Texas are accepting donations and organizing volunteers to help people affected by the floods, from jewelry companies to disaster relief nonprofits.
“Keller stands ready to assist in any way possible once [Kerrville begins] to recover from this terrible tragedy,” Mizani said in a social media post July 5. “Please continue to pray for all the families and communities impacted.”
