During its May 13 meeting, Fort Worth City Council approved a one-year professional service agreement with Cumulus Media to help with recruiting for its police force.

The agreement is for $285,050, but includes four one-year renewal options, which could push the final amount to a little more than $1.1 million.

What happened

This is the second contract with the Atlanta-based company. In August 2024, the city had a contract for a three-month digital media campaign to target currently employed police officers in Chicago, Seattle and southern California to join the Fort Worth Police Department.

The media campaign resulted in 45 officers joining the lateral police academy, the highest number of recruits ever. The previous largest class was 27, according to city documents.

There are approximately 150 sworn officer vacancies as of May 13, council documents showed.

Zooming in

Cumulus Media will develop a recruiting website containing information about the city’s employee benefits, minimum requirements, hiring procedures and specialized units.

The agreement calls for digital media advertising in the metro areas of Dallas, Houston, Austin and San Antonio.

What else?

According to documents, the campaign will include ads on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube and other streaming platforms, as well as broadcast, radio and podcasts.
