Fort Worth Assistant Police Chief Robert Alldredge is now the interim police chief for the city.

What’s happening

During the May 20 meeting, Council Members voted for Alldredge to take over the role starting May 31, one day following the retirement of Police Chief Neil Noakes.

Alldredge has held various ranks and served in multiple areas of the department. He started with the Fort Worth Police Department in 1999 and has been an officer, corporal, sergeant, lieutenant and captain, according to the city website.

In his most recent job, he oversees the department’s finance/personnel bureau, consisting of the training division, professional standards division, program support division, communications division and quality assurance.


A veteran of the Air Force, Alldredge has a bachelor’s and master’s in criminal justice from Tarleton State.

The background

Noakes has been the police chief since 2021. May 30 marks his 25th anniversary working for the Fort Worth Police Department, according to previous reporting.

He announced his intention to retire during a Dec. 9 news conference.
