One part of the Northside II water main project has been voted on by the city of Fort Worth while the town of Northlake is going back to the drawing board for its portion of the project.

The Fort Worth City Council approved an ordinance for $216,500 for costs related to the project as part of the fiscal year 2025-29 capital improvement program.

What happened?

During the Feb. 11 meeting, Fort Worth city documents stated Northlake has received bids for the project and should be awarding a contract soon to start construction.

Upon completion and acceptance of the project, the water main asset will be owned by Fort Worth.


“We rejected bids and are rebidding the project at an upcoming meeting,” Northlake Town Manager Drew Corn said.

The next meeting for the town of Northlake is March 13.

How we got here

Fort Worth City Council approved a wholesale water contract with the town of Northlake during a Jan. 10, 2023, meeting for increased capacity and an additional meter station, according to city documents.


The city of Fort Worth would pay for the design, survey and easement acquisition for land near Perot Field Fort Worth Alliance Airport. The $216,500 that Fort Worth is spending is from the Water and Sewer Capital Projects funds.

The town of Northlake would design and receive bids for the construction of the 24-inch water main, according to city documents.

The project for Northlake has an estimated cost of $6.5 million. City documents stated the city advertised for bids in January and was set to award the bid in February.
