All Fort Worth residents are allowed two extra bags of garbage on their first pickup day following Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day for no extra fee. The news release states the two extra bags should be set on the curb next to the brown garbage cart on appropriate collection days. The bags should not exceed a 32-gallon kitchen trash bag.

Extra bags will be collected by a separate truck and may be picked up at different times than garbage carts, according to the release. Residents experiencing issues with trash pick up can contact the 311 Fort Worth Contact Center at 817-392-1234 or use the MyFW app to report a problem.

For residents needing to dispose of excess garbage, recycling, yard or bulk waste during the Thanksgiving holiday, Fort Worth has four drop-off stations, including the North Service Center at 301 Hillshire Drive. The news release states the stations will be closed Nov. 28-29 and then reopen Nov. 30.

Residents can also purchase pay bags—available in sets of five for $15 plus tax—for excess garbage. Pay bags are mailed to residents and charged on residential water bills.
