City of Fort Worth Environmental Services, along with other city departments, collectively picked up 19.7 million pounds of litter in fiscal year 2024. This amount is down slightly from the year before when 19.9 million pounds were collected.

In a nutshell

According to a city news release, city departments use a variety of programs and services for litter and debris pick up from Oct. 1, 2023, to Sept. 30, 2024. These included:
  • Citywide litter cleanups
  • Volunteer-led cleanups
  • Grant-funded programs
  • Interdepartmental collaborations
  • Partnerships with outside organizations
  • Emergency cleanup responses
These efforts helped city staff remove litter and debris from 8,902 illegal dump sites, control litter along Texas Department of Transportation highways and increase litter removal and mowing cycles for public properties such as parks.
