The Fort Worth City Council unanimously approved the city’s fiscal year 2024-25 budget during their regular meeting Sept. 17. The tax rate of $0.6725 per $100 valuation remains unchanged from last year’s rate.

The details

According to the news release, the city’s general fund is $1.06 billion, which represents a 4.3% increase from FY 2023-24. The city’s entire budget for FY 2024-25 is $2.79 billion.

Some budget highlights include:
  • $690 million for the police and fire departments
  • $76.5 million for parks and recreation
  • $107 million for transportation & public works
  • $10.4 million allocated to maintain and repair city streets.
  • $3.5 million to support the startup of a new ambulance service in 2025
The new fiscal year begins Oct. 1.
