Fort Worth Municipal Court is hosting Court in the Community, an event intended for people who have outstanding citations in Fort Worth to appear at a municipal court without fear of arrest for their cases.

According to the city news release, Court in the Community will run from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, Sept. 14, at Compass Church North Fort Worth, located at 12512 N.W. Hwy. 287 in Haslet.

The news release states as many as 120 people can be seen on a first-come, first-served basis with a Class C criminal case filed with the court, such as:
  • Traffic violations
  • Ordinance violations
  • Penal code violations
Fort Worth is a safe harbor court, which means residents can always visit a Fort Worth Municipal Court location without fear of arrest for outstanding warrants, according to the news release. Attendees can resolve their outstanding cases and may be eligible for alternatives, such as community service or a reduction in their fine based on ability to pay.

The news release states several community partners will work with the court for the event, including:
  • Goodwill North Central Texas will be available with employment opportunities, job placement services, one-on-one career counseling and job readiness skills training, including resume writing, interviewing skills and job search techniques.
