Fort Worth officials presented the 2025-29 capital improvement program worth $3.8 billion to City Council members Aug. 13 that includes $2 billion in water utility expenditures.

According to a city news release, the capital improvement program serves as a guide for improvements to be made during the current fiscal year and the subsequent four years. These improvements include construction of:
  • Facilities
  • Infrastructure
  • Other assets and maintenance
The news release states the city intends to spend $814 million on capital expenditures in fiscal year 2024-25, which will include:
  • Aviation: $24.2 million to maintain critical infrastructure at Fort Worth Alliance-Perot Field, Meacham and Spinks airports
  • Public events: $71.3 million to maintain the Fort Worth Convention Center, Will Rogers Memorial Center and Cowtown Coliseum
  • General plan: $157.7 million to maintain police and fire stations, technology, libraries, neighborhood improvements, parks and streets, and replacing aging vehicles and equipment
  • Environmental services: $1 million to maintain solid waste services, consumer health and environmental quality
  • Stormwater: $23.4 million to maintain the city’s drainage system
  • Water: $536.4 million to maintain the city’s water and wastewater distribution and collection operations
