Fort Worth Municipal Court is hosting Court in the Community, an event intended for people who have outstanding citations in Fort Worth to appear at a municipal court without fear of arrest for their cases.

According to the city news release, Court in the Community will run from 9 a.m.-noon on Aug. 10 at William M. McDonald YMCA, located at 2701 Moresby St.

Anyone who has outstanding citations with the Fort Worth Municipal Court is invited to appear at a municipal court location or at the Court in the Community event without fear of arrest for their cases. Attendees can resolve their outstanding cases and may be eligible for alternatives, such as community service or a reduction in their fine based on ability to pay.

The news release states numerous community partners have partnered with the court and will host a back-to-school giveaway at the event beginning at 10 a.m. Free backpacks and school supplies will be handed out.

“I encourage anyone who has an outstanding citation with the Fort Worth municipal court to contact us immediately so we can provide options to move those cases to a final resolution,” Court Director William Rumuly said. “We are a safe harbor court, meaning we do not arrest persons who come voluntarily to see us on their outstanding cases.”
