Candidate filing for Place 3 on the Keller City Council continues until June 27.

The background

A special election will be held Aug. 31 for the Keller City Council. Jessica Juarez previously held the Place 3 council seat but resigned in May for job reasons. In a news release, city officials said Keller’s City Charter requires an election to fill a vacant council seat within 120 days. Filing began May 28, said Rachel Reynolds, the city's communication and public engagement manager.

Zooming in

The special election winner will hold the Place 3 seat through the spring, when he or she would need to run for re-election as part of the May 2025 ballot to seek a full three-year term, the city stated in a news release.
