Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker's summer reading challenge is making a return.

The program runs June 1 through Aug. 10. Readers of all ages are encouraged to read as many minutes as they can and celebrate milestones along the way, according to a city news release.

The details

According to the release, readers can sign up online or at their local library branch.
  • Readers that sign up their local library branch will receive a prize for taking the challenge.
  • Upon registration, children 12 and under will receive a certificate from Raising Cane’s, which doubles as a coupon for one free kids meal.
  • Readers will earn a free book and a certificate from the mayor when they complete the challenge.
Quote of note

“Literacy is foundational in a thriving community, and whether you’re challenging yourself, your friends, or your family members, setting goals to read more minutes is fun with the library’s support,” Parker said.
