The Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department has launched Play Big!, an extensive park, recreation and open space initiative that will be used to shape the future of the city’s recreational spaces.

The overview

According to a news release, the Play Big! master plan was created with help from Stantec Consulting Services Inc. and contains several components:
  • Enhancing the city’s existing parks and recreation facilities
  • Identifying land for future parkland and facilities
  • Creating new parks, amenities and programming
In terms of funding these components, the news release states that the master plan will also explore strategies to:
  • Expand recreational programming
  • Foster economic development and implementing financial strategies
  • Include potential funding and grant opportunities

According to the news release, the city is offering residents several opportunities for input, including stakeholder and community engagement efforts, community workshops and pop-up events.

The news release states that a key component of the community engagement process is the development of a survey. It was created in collaboration with National Service Research and is available in both English and Spanish.
