The Keller Public Library plans to install an outdoor locker bank early next year in Keller, according to the city's social media.

The locker will be made by EnvisionWare, a company that creates self-service technologies for public libraries, according to the company website.

The device will be used to dispense held books and other materials after hours and will operate similarly to the self-checkout machine inside the library. When patrons place an item on hold and choose the lockers as their pickup location, they will get an alert when the item is ready. Then they can visit the terminal, scan or enter their library card number and the locker holding their item will open, automatically checking out the materials.

Library staff are still working out how long they’ll allow materials to stay in the lockers, but they anticipate letting patrons place up to 20 items on hold.
