In a nutshell
Council took action by approving two items associated with the project. The first included awarding a construction contract to Mario Sinacola and Sons Excavating Inc. The second was to execute an engineering services agreement with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. to help manage the project.
According to city documents, the project is located on the west side of the airport and will extend Taxiway Papa north approximately 675 feet. The project will also connect Taxiway Papa to Runway 16R/34L at Taxiway Foxtrot, which should provide three main benefits:
- Provide greater ease of access to tenants on the west side of the airport
- Allow for better overall operational efficiency
- Provide additional public protection along the west perimeter of the airport by providing a larger protection zone that will enhance the margin of safety on airport property in accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration
City documents state that the contract with Mario Sinacola and Sons Excavating Inc. is for about $8 million. The contract with Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. is for an amount up to $820,762.02.
The project is being funded by FAA Discretionary, Entitlement and Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Grant funding, according to city documents.
