The city of Fort Worth has changed two days of its trash collection schedule during the Thanksgiving holiday.

The details

According to the city website, collection scheduled for Nov. 23 will move to Nov. 24. Trash collection scheduled for Nov. 24 will move to Nov. 25.

Carts and materials must be out for collection by 7 a.m. on the assigned collection day.

In case you missed it

According to a city website, council adopted an ordinance on Sept. 19 amending the service fee for overloaded carts and loose bags.

The website stated that residents are responsible for ensuring all items fit into the bins and that lids are securely closed. Properly closed bins are needed to allow for the use of the truck's technology assistance.

Bins that are not securely closed are considered “overloaded/overfilled” while any additional bags set outside of or next to the carts are considered “loose bags,” according to the website. Both instances are not allowed and considered “non-compliant.”

The Sept. 19 ordinance also amended city code to increase collection rates for these items as follows as of Jan. 1, 2024:
  • $6.00 per cart for overloaded carts
  • $3.00 per bag for loose bags
