Officials with the city of Roanoke announced in an Oct. 31 release that they are canceling the Veterans Day parade, car show and other outdoor activities scheduled for Nov. 2 due to forecasted weather conditions.

According to the release, the Veterans Day ceremony, scheduled for noon, will move indoors and be held at Roanoke Fire Station 1 located off Fairway Drive.

“We know how much everyone was looking forward to this day, but the safety of our community members comes first,” the release states.

Only the ceremony will take place and is scheduled to take 30-45 minutes, according to Carissa Katekaru, Roanoke Communications and Marketing Administrator.
