Country music star Pat Green performance at the upcoming 27th Annual Celebrate Roanoke Street Festival Oct. 12.

His appearance at the festival coincides with an electrical improvement project in Roanoke.

The details

The free-admission festival will be held throughout Historic Downtown Roanoke from noon to 10 p.m. and features seven blocks of entertainment with a live rodeo, children's activities, Western entertainment, performances on multiple stages, an animal call competition and other activities, a city news release stated.

Green, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter who hails from San Antonio and began his career in the 1990s, will perform at the main stage at Roanoke City Hall.

The day’s events will end with a Western-inspired drone show, according to the release.

Zooming in

Beginning in August, contractors started electrical work along both sides of Oak Street from Crockett to Byron Nelson, a city news release states. Project crews will place electrical outlets along the tree locations, causing some sidewalk disruptions.

City officials do not anticipate any vehicle traffic disruptions, said Carissa Katekaru, communications and public engagement administrator for the city.

These outlets are for Christmas lights and street festivals, she said. City crews are not involved in the work, but they are “overseeing the construction and inspections of the entire process.”

The city’s cost of the project will not exceed $1.7 million.

The project is expected to be finished by March 2025.
