Fireworks will light up the sky on July 3 in Roanoke as the community celebrates at the city’s annual July 3rd Independence Day Celebration.

The event will be held from 5-10 p.m. and is free, according to a city news release. The celebration will feature live music, a free kids zone, a pie-eating competition and other activities.

Emerald City Band will perform on the main stage at 8 p.m. at City Hall Plaza, 500 S. Oak. St., followed by the fireworks show at 9:15 p.m.
