Incumbent Mayor Mattie Parker will have a little more competition during the upcoming May 3 election.

The filing period for Fort Worth Mayor and Fort Worth City Council closed Feb. 14 and to win her third term, Parker has to beat seven other candidates.

What’s happening?

Parker's opponents in 2025 include Donnell Ballard, Alyson Kennedy, Jeremy F. Labelle, Josh Lucas, Lawrence E. Walker II, Chris Wood and Millennium Anton C. Woods Jr.

Parker became Fort Worth’s 45th mayor after winning a runoff for the position in 2021.

She won re-election in May 2023 facing four opponents, garnering 70% of the vote to get a second term. Kennedy ran against Parker in 2023, as well.

A closer look

There are also 10 council spots up for election, including two in Districts 4 and 10 in Northeast Fort Worth. After redistricting in 2022, Fort Worth added two districts, including District 10.

The current council member for District 10 is Alan Blaylock, who is running unopposed. Blaylock has been on council since 2022, winning a special election for then-District 4.

In District 4, incumbent Charlie Lauersdorf is seeking a second term. In 2023, he won with 59.95% of the vote, beating Teresa Ramirez.

Lauersdorf and Ramirez will face off again for the council spot on May 3.
