During the Jan. 10 council meeting, Town Secretary Anita Otterson provided updates on the May 6 election, noting important days along the way for the positions.
Mayor Alicia Fleury's first term is up, as well as Place 1 Council Member Greg Lamont—also the mayor pro tem—and Place 2 Council Member Jeff Beach. Fleury garnered 61% of the vote in the delayed 2020 elections that happened in November rather than May. She previously served a term as the Place 1 Council Member.
The first day to file to be on the ballot is Jan. 18, and the last day is Feb. 17. The final day for a write-in candidate to file a write-in candidacy is Feb. 21.
Political signs cannot be posted until Feb. 15. On Feb. 27, a drawing will be held for the order of names on the ballot.
Early voting will run from April 24-May 2, while mail-in ballots opened Jan. 1 and must be received by April 25. Campaign contributions and expenditures are due by 5 p.m. April 6.
Election day is May 6 with voting held at Town Hall, 1 Trophy Wood Drive, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
