Early voting started Oct. 24 for the Nov. 8 general election in Tarrant and Denton counties with a host of candidates at the federal, state and county levels.

Voters in each county will also choose a county judge, which is the top elected post at the county level, as well as their county commissioner representative and several other offices at the county level.

Several statewide offices, including governor, lieutenant governor and attorney general, will be decided by voters in this general election as well.

Also on the ballot are candidates for the Texas Senate, the Texas House of Representatives, the U.S. House of Representatives, the State Board of Education and several judicial offices.

In Denton County, Proposition A will be on the ballot. It is a $650 million bond measure that would fund a host of transportation projects aimed at relieving congestion and improving safety.


During early voting, voters in Tarrant and Denton counties may cast a ballot at any polling location. Click here for a list of polling locations in Tarrant County and here for a list of polling locations in Denton County.

Tarrant County voters can get a free ride to early voting locations through Nov. 4 and on Election Day. Riders must show their voter registration card or Texas ID to use the Trinity Metro Zipzone in the Alliance area, spanning I-35W up to Hwy. 114. Find a map here.

Voters who are interested in casting an absentee ballot or voting by mail must submit their application to the county where they live by Oct. 28.

Polls will be open in Tarrant County from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 24-28, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 29, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Oct. 30 and from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 31-Nov. 4. The locations include the Villages of Woodland Springs Amenity Center and Keller Town Hall.


In Denton County, they are open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct 24-28, from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 29, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Oct. 30 and from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Oct. 31-Nov. 4. Denton County early voting locations can be found at the Roanoke Public Library and the Trophy Club Municipal Utility District building.
