Roanoke Mayor Scooter Gierisch faces challenger Moueed Rajabi in the May 1 election. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Gierisch, a general manager and partner at Roanoke Auto Supply Ltd. was first elected to City Council in 1995 and has served as mayor since 2005. He is seeking another three-year term. Rajabi works as a U.S. government contractor.
