Northwest ISD announced June 24 it will open its application for students to apply for its free and reduced-priced school meal program for the 2025-26 school year starting July 7.

The details

According to a district news release, a letter will be mailed out July 7 to parents of Northwest ISD students about eligibility benefits and next steps needed to apply for the program.

The following criteria will be used to determine if NISD families applying for the program can receive the free- or reduced-meal benefits:
  • Household income that is at or below the income eligibility levels
  • Households that receive Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF); or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR)
  • Child is a foster child, homeless, runaway, migrant or displaced by a declared disaster
  • Child is enrolled in Head Start or Even Start
What else?

Applications will be available online or at each district campus starting July 7, as well. They may be submitted anytime during the school year, the news release states.

The information provided by households on the application will be used for the purpose of determining eligibility, according to district documents.
