Keller ISD's district and campus administrative offices and facilities will operate on a summer schedule from June 2 and will be open Tuesdays through Thursdays.

The details

The release states full-time employees working during the summer will work 10-hour days Monday through Thursday. Employees will work remotely on Mondays in order to close buildings on those days as a cost-saving measure.

Public business hours will be 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday each week through July 25.

A closer look

Cost savings have become a key issue for the KISD board of trustees. As the district prepares for the 2025-26 school year, projections indicate a $9.4 million budget shortfall, officials said.

To address this shortfall, Keller ISD is considering several cost-saving measures. At the Feb. 27 board meeting, Chief Operations Officer John Allison outlined potential actions, including:
  • Increasing the student-teacher ratio in middle and high schools by an average of 0.5
  • Reducing district-level positions
  • Cutting transportation costs
The board also discussed the possibility of closing elementary schools, with discussions scheduled to begin early this fall.

What you need to know

The news release states that campus employees can be reached by email while they are working remotely on Mondays, but may not be able to return all phone calls received until they return to campus.

The district will be closed during the following dates:
  • June 19, Juneteenth
  • June 30 through July 4
According to the news release, Keller ISD will resume its five-day work week July 28.
