According to a district news release, KISD Education Foundation staff and board members surprised this year's award recipients with more than $125,000 that will help support learning initiatives, including:
- Sensory-inclusive classrooms
- Outdoor musical learning spaces
- Advanced technology integration
- Hands-on learning experiences

The news release states money was awarded to schools in all four high school feeder patterns in the district. Projects include:
- "Mobile Math Lab" at Friendship Elementary School
- "Headphones for Education" at Parkview Elementary School
- "Wiggle, Jump, Explore and Learn" at Keller-Harvel Elementary School
- "Mock Grocery Store" at Eagle Ridge Elementary School
