During its regular meeting May 6, the Northwest ISD board of trustees approved a $20.82 million guaranteed maximum price contract with Satterfield and Pontikes Construction to increase Nance Elementary School's capacity to handle 850 students.

The details

Executive Director of Communications Anthony Tosie said the expansion is essentially an addition of a classroom wing that will increase the school’s capacity to 850 students from its capacity of 650 students.

“It will be our final elementary school that will receive an expansion, as all but one in the district will be at an 850-student capacity following this expansion,” Tosie said. “The remaining elementary school, Lakeview Elementary School, is located in an area that is built out and is not projected to see growth to warrant an expansion.”

Voters approved the expansion of Nance Elementary School as part of Proposition A of the 2023 bond referendum, Tosie said.
