Northwest ISD students and families are invited to participate in a bike safety event hosted by the
Fort Worth Police Department. The event will take place at 10 a.m. on May 18 at
J.C. Thompson Elementary School located at 440 Wishbone Lane in Haslet.
The detailsAccording to a district news release, the event will include presentations on the following:
- Crosswalk crossing safety
- How to correctly maneuver safely with a bike while crossing the street
- Proper bike hand signals
- Explanations of street signs
The news release states that families are encouraged to bring their bicycles along with their bike helmets to the event. Officers will be on hand to evaluate the condition of the bike and review proper helmet usage.
At the end of the presentation, the news release states that each child will receive the following:
- A goody bag with bike safety items
- Educational materials
- A visit with McGruff the Crime Dog
