The Northwest ISD board of trustees voted unanimously Jan. 22 to extend Mark Foust’s contract as district superintendent.

The details

Foust, who was hired by the board at its Dec. 12, 2022, meeting, filled the role held by former Superintendent David Hicks, who died suddenly on Sept. 9, 2022. Michael Griffin was appointed interim superintendent following the death of Hicks, who was in his first year working for the district.

According to district documents, Foust’s contract is extended to Jan. 22, 2027. As part of the extension, Foust’s salary has been increased from $333,000 to $342,990.

What they’re saying

Vice President Mark Schluter thanked Foust for coming into a “house on fire” and working with the board from day one.

“You’re doing a fantastic job, and I want to say thank you,” Schluter told Foust. “It’s an honor to work with you and this board.”

In his response, Foust commented on what an incredible place Northwest ISD is and how blessed he feels in getting to work in it.

“I can’t imagine a more actively engaged board that genuinely cares about our kids,” Foust said.
