Board members of the Keller ISD Education Foundation joined administration officials, donors and community members as part of the district’s Grant Patrol that distributed more than $100,000 to educators Dec. 7 and 8.

The details

According to the news release, the purpose of the Grant Patrol is to support educators and facilitate professional development initiatives across various campuses by empowering educators to foster continued growth and innovation within Keller schools.

The event kicked off at the Keller Center for Advanced Learning on Dec. 7 where teachers received eight grants totaling more than $16,000. Grants given at KCAL are going to support the purchase of various equipment, including:
  • Medical lab equipment
  • 3D printers
  • Software programs to teach coding
  • Glowforge printer for interior design
  • Graphic design equipment
Grants were distributed to 86 teachers on 27 campuses across the district, according to the news release.

The backstory


Since its inception in 2005, the Keller ISD Education Foundation has invested $1.2 million in the district, according to its website.

Mallory Estes, a board member with the Keller ISD Education Foundation, said that the board raises money year-round with events such as a golf tournament in the fall and a spring gala in order to raise money for these educator grants.

“[We’re] seeing all of the funding that we are raising throughout the year being put into action and seeing how it’s applied to the students and teachers,” Estes said.
