Northwest ISD board members approved a resolution to purchase land to be used as a future high school site at their Oct. 9 meeting.

The details

According to district documents, the 7.13-acre parcel of land is located to the west of US 287 and to the south of CR 4651 near Newark, northeast of Fort Worth's city limits. The district purchased the land for $1.7 million.

The property will complete and make a contiguous boundary to the existing property owned by NISD on the west side of the district, the documents stated.

According to district documents, the land purchase was budgeted and funded out of the 2023 bond program.

According to a district website, components of the bond are as follows:
  • Proposition A: $1.7 billion for educational facilities and capital improvements
  • Proposition B: $302 million for home stadiums and field renovations
  • Proposition C: $22 million for technology devices
