The Northwest ISD board of trustees unanimously approved several additions and deletions to the 2024-25 high school academic planning guide Oct. 9. The district high schools include Northwest, V.R. Eaton and Byron Nelson.

Executive Director of Teaching & Learning Stephanie Espinoza presented the changes to the board that included the following:
  • Science: Earth & Space removed and Astronomy added
  • Science: on-level Physics removed and replaced with Honors Physics
  • Fine Arts: Musical Theatre I added
  • World Languages: Honors American Sign Language III added
  • Special Education: Applied Strategic Math added, Applied MAPS and Path College Career II removed
Career and technical education program additions include:
  • Practicum in Advanced Manufacturing
  • Greenhouse Operations
  • Aviation Ground School
  • Securities and Investments
  • Engineering Design & Presentation I and II
  • Engineering Design & Problem Solving
Career and technical education program removals include:
  • Animation I & Practicum
  • Engineering Science
  • STEM Problem Based Research
