The Northwest ISD board of trustees named Chris Hill as the district’s executive director of secondary education during their Oct. 9 meeting. He has served in that role on an interim basis since the start of the 2023-24 school year.

The details

According to a district news release, Hill will oversee the district’s three comprehensive high schools, eight middle schools, Special Programs Center and Steele Early College High School. His responsibilities include:
  • Monitoring the implementation of campus improvement plans
  • Planning and facilitating professional learning opportunities for administrators
  • Providing direction in the implementation of the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System, among other areas of oversight

Prior to serving as the interim executive director of secondary education, Hill supported secondary schools as the district’s director of secondary staffing, according to the news release. In this role, he oversaw hiring of all educational and professional staff at secondary schools throughout Northwest ISD.

The backstory

Prior to joining Northwest ISD in 2022, Hill spent 13 years in Hurst-Euless Bedford ISD as both a campus and district administrator, the news release stated. He began his career as a science teacher at L.D. Bell High School before advancing into administration. As an administrator, Hill also served as the Title IX coordinator, supporting those involved in the grievance process.

According to the news release, Hill earned both his master’s and bachelor’s degrees from The University of Texas at Arlington, with his master's degree in educational leadership and policy studies, and his bachelor's degree in biology.
