The Tarrant County College board of trustees approved a tuition increase of $5 per credit hour for in-county residents to be effective in spring 2024.

According to a news release, tuition for a full-time, in-county resident—a student taking 15 credits—will increase to $1,035.

The specifics

The news release stated the board also raised other tuition rates, including:
  • The out-of-county resident tuition will increase from $126 to $131 per credit hour.
  • Tuition for out-of-state residents and international students will be $310 per credit hour.
TCC is one of the 20 largest higher education institutions in the United States and boasts the second-lowest tuition of Texas’ top 10 community colleges, the news release stated. This is the first tuition increase since the 2018-19 academic year.

“During discussions regarding the tuition increase, the board sought to maintain affordability for all TCC students while continuing to provide a quality education,” TCC board President Teresa Ayala said.

A closer look

According to the news release, TCC is a comprehensive two-year college with six campuses in Tarrant County and online. The college offers a wide range of opportunities for learners of all ages and backgrounds that include:
  • Traditional programs, such as Associate of Arts or Associate of Applied Science degrees
  • Workforce and economic development programs
  • Technical and skilled trades programs
  • Customized training programs for area businesses and corporations
Students also may take advantage of Weekend College through which they can complete an associate degree in 18 months or less by attending class full-time through weekend and online classes, the news release stated.
