Northwest ISD earns TASB risk fund excellence award

The Texas Association of School Boards Risk Fund has awarded the Northwest ISD Benefits & Risk Management Department with its 2023 Excellence Award. Seven school districts in the state were awarded this honor for projects that solve common risk challenges, according to a district news release.

Northwest ISD’s risk management staff received the award for their work creating a streamlined motor vehicle collision reporting system, the news release states. They addressed the challenge by implementing the following steps:

• Equipping each district vehicle with a step-by-step guide
• Creating a form for documenting details
• Creating a guide for taking photos at the scene

The backstory

The TASB Risk Fund Excellence Award recognizes school districts, community colleges and education service centers that implement exemplary solutions to common and emerging risk management challenges, the news release states. These solutions are considered best practices to deal with challenges from common risks.
