The backstory

According to a district website, NISD is the fastest-growing school district in North Texas and one of the fastest growing in the state. Its boundaries span 234 square miles across portions of Denton, Tarrant and Wise counties.

During the last 20 years, McClure said the district has averaged about 1,000-1,100 new students each year. During the 2021-22 school year, growth in the district spiked to over 2,500 new students.

According to a Northwest ISD website, construction of these new facilities are funded by the sale of bonds in 2021 and 2023.
