Jeremy Martin has been named the new principal of Tidwell Middle School. Martin is replacing Ryan Barnhart, who accepted a leadership position in neighboring Liberty Christian School.

The details

According to a NISD news release, Martin has served as an assistant principal at Tidwell for the past three years. In that position, Martin’s responsibilities included:
  • Serving as the coordinator of campus testing
  • Managing at-risk programs
  • Managing the gifted and talented programs
  • Contributing to master schedule planning
  • Serving as a district strategic planning team member
The news release went on to state Martin joined Northwest ISD in 2015 as an elementary classroom teacher before becoming an instructional technology coach in 2018, a role he held for four years.

In addition to his work in the classroom, Martin has assisted others professionally as a presenter at multiple development conferences, including the Texas Computer Education Association, according to the news release. Additionally, as part of his leadership development at NISD, he has completed the district’s LEAD training program.

The backstory

Prior to joining NISD, the news release states Martin served as a teacher in Houston ISD for six years, educating students at both the elementary and secondary levels.

The news release said Martin earned his master’s degree in educational leadership and administration from the University of North Texas and his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Stephen F. Austin University.
