Executive Director of Construction Tommy Osborne gave Northwest ISD board of trustees members a report on the status of active projects June 13.

As part of Osborne’s report, he highlighted five new schools that are under construction and are slated to be completed in time for the beginning of the 2023-24 school year.

The schools include:
  • C.W. Worthington Middle School: According to the Northwest ISD construction website, Worthington is Northwest ISD’s seventh middle school. It is 219,000 square feet and will serve 1,200 students in Haslet. It will provide relief for existing middle schools in the area, such as Adams and Wilson middle schools.
  • Molly Livengood Carter Elementary School: According to the Northwest ISD construction website, Carter is located in the Northstar development and will provide relief to other area elementary schools, such as Haslet Elementary.
  • Seven Hills Elementary School: According to the Northwest ISD construction website, Seven Hills—which is a replacement school—will be located directly behind the existing school.
  • Johnie Daniel Elementary: named for Johnie Daniel, who worked as a land developer in the area and greatly influenced Northwest ISD’s growth as a leader at Hillwood for 20 years, the school is located in the Pecan Square development, according to the Northwest ISD construction website.
  • Hatfield Elementary: Also a replacement school, Hatfield is moving to a new location. According to the Northwest ISD construction website, it is located in the Trails of Elizabeth Creek community.
The funding for these new schools comes from a $746 million bond that Northwest ISD passed in 2021 to accommodate its rapid growth. In addition to building the new schools listed above, the 2021 bond money was also earmarked for renovations and maintenance on existing facilities and technology upgrades.
