Northwest ISD is hosting a reception to give the community an opportunity to meet David Hicks, the district’s new superintendent.

The reception will be from 4:30-6 p.m. May 24 in the Northwest ISD administration building’s board room, 2001 Texan Drive in Justin.

Hicks, whose first official day with the district was May 17, spent six years as superintendent in Sherman ISD. He was also previously area superintendent of secondary programs at Denton ISD.

He replaces Superintendent Ryder Warren, who joined the district in 2016 and retired at the end of this school year.

In a welcome video posted May 19 on the NISD website, Hicks said he has been working with Warren for the past month to learn about the district.

“Our culture in Northwest ISD is second to none, and great culture starts with our people,” he said. “I’ve already met some incredibly dedicated teachers and staff. Our families provide wonderful support as volunteers and through our PTAs and booster clubs. And our business leaders and elected officials know and support public education.”
