Keller ISD will be giving one-time payments to all part-time employees and substitute teachers.

At its Feb. 28 meeting, the Keller ISD board of trustees approved providing one-time payments of $500 for all part-time employees and two one-time payments of $250 for substitute teachers who worked 40 or more days during the fall semester and those who work 40 or more days during the spring semester, according to the agenda item’s memo.

The payments for part-time employees and substitute teachers come after the board approved a $1,000 one-time retention payment for all full-time employees and additional COVID-19 sick leave at its Jan. 24 meeting.

“These payments will likely increase retention of current employees, improve student outcomes, remediate student learning loss, promote staff morale, show appreciation, and properly reward employees for performing under the additional hardships caused by the pandemic,” the district wrote in the memo.

The payments for part-time staff and fall semester substitutes will be disbursed in March, while the payment for spring semester substitutes will be distributed in June, according to the memo.
